rivr is a headache! seva's concerns are also valid. satya prabhakar is probably on the run -- evading arrest for hosting plentiful anti-congress, anti-PM views, blogs and comments in the old format.

it is astounding to note how much better the design of the sulekha site was several years ago as compared to today.

exactly! the biggest irony is that it took them one year to build the CH format (that was unique in its layout -- tree like threads and different sections). the credit for inventing that design went to a non-techie, sangeeta kshettry. they hung on to that design for many years and allowed embedding and added chat and registration, PMs etc. then it took them more than a decade to slowly destroy it in the name of improvement. when they realized it would be easier to uproot it and install a new design, their new design turned out to be hopelessly unimaginative!

p.s. i found "togofogo nite" quite by accident and will be posting it shortly.

do post that legendary writeup. getting rid of the tree like threads (which was a really beautiful design) was i suppose a commercial decision. the trees could end up occupying too much horizontal space and leave no space for putting advertisments. some day when i have enough time on my hands i want to replicate the design of the original sulekha CH. on another note, the original CH software was written in perl (a language i detest because it is an ugly language).

i suppose that is the language satya was most intimate with. he had written the original code.

Haha I was surprised by the icon for Coffeehouse too. Don't understand how a cardboard box represents a coffeehouse.
