Obama needs a stellar debate to recreate momentum. 2nd debate stopped romney from walking sway with the election. 3 rd.debate gives obama a chance to seal the deal. Libya will pose a problem. Romney also would provoke him on china and libya. But obama was at.the top for four years. He should be able to come up with easy simple explanations for isreal, iran, china, europe, libya and russia. No half sentences, no look of prepared lines.

Can he deliver a 60 40 victory?

Libya is such a easy explanation. Don't know why the dems are not slam dunking.

All embassies submit budget requests for Oct 1 - Sept 30 along with justification. Most middle east, Afghanistan embassies would have demanded more money citing increased security risks. Naturally, Hillary had to approve the budget with the best security threat perception faced by all embassies. There were more severe threats to embassies in Iraq, Egypt, Jordon, Syria, Sudan, pakistan, and Afghanistan - much worse than in Libya. What happened in Libya could have been worse in Egypt, Syria and Pakistan. The randomness and unpredictability of mid east terror is best explained by the 283 dead in Beirut Bombing during Reagan admin, and going by that Libyan episode is effectively under control - thanks to the Obama admin's quick and efficient handling.

It is not the terrorist act that is causing trouble, it is that elusive cover up. Repubs are trying to convince public that obama admin is covering up its failures by lying about roits. They got a point. Obama admin took almost two weeks to acknowledge terrorist act in bengazi. In non election time it is mid level human error. During presidential campaign, it becomes a sign of incompetence at top level.

Taking only 2 weeks to investigate and reach a decision is efficient in a democratic set up. Only Iran, North Korea JUMP to conclusion and blame it on US with no investigation and instantly. If the republicans call that efficient, dems and the US should have none of it.

The administration bungled the response to the consulate attack. There are good reasons why the administration thought the attack was caused by the rioting against the anti-Islam video, but they overplayed that when the evidence was limited, and there was much that was still unclear.

That said, the administration has done a tremendous job of managing the messy situation in Libya, dislodging an enemy of the west and a widely-hated dictator without committing any American troops to the fight. Obama has the advantage on this topic because he has a strong record he can point to. Unlike "Mitt the Twit" as a Rupert Murdoch newspaper called him in America's friendliest foreign country.
