Re: For MAX
very nice, but i have seen this movie before. the resemblance to GNB is incredibly strong. the brighas and the gunfire swara patterns etc. no question that he has been strongly influenced. very aesthetically pleasing nevertheless.

Re: For MAX
in his most recent concert, he took up 'Sruthi Ranjani'. his own words:
This most beautiful raga is a 'Janya' of the 61st Melakartha 'Kanthamani' and the only composition which exists in it, is 'Edari Sancharinthura'[By Tyagaraja Swami] which I heard many years back, sung by the legendary Balamuralikrishna sir ,in an earlier recording.
aiyooooo...it was just mind blowing. i'll see if i can get him to upload a clip on utube.

Re: For MAX
u have no clue:-) that was his earlier recordings and yes, GNB's influence is predominant. his two recent concerts were simply from the beyond.
here, a review
ARIYAKUDI/SEMMANGUDI/ALATHUR/GNB/KARAKURICHI/MALI/MADURAI MANI/MADURAI SOMU/MLV/DKP/MS- ETERNAL MASTERS and we had a SUBSEQUENT set consisting of SANTHANAM/DKJ/SESHAGOPALAN/TVS who developed a slice of cake from these eternal masters from 80s to 2000. Post 2000 a brand new generation has emerged and I would like to group T.M.KRISHNA/SANJAY/ /BOMBAY JAYASRI/SUDHA RAGHUNATHAN/VIJAY SIVA/NITYASRI/ARUNA SAIRAM who succeeded in continuing the tradition untiringly and they deserve full compliments for their contribution to this music world. During this period I had noticed Mr.Sriram Gangadharan who is sincerely attempting to give to the public 50 years later the experiences of hearing the IRREPLACABLE ETERNAL MASTERS before 1950s pattern of singing. This was seen in full throttle at Mylapore fine arts on 28th december 2012 when Shanmuga Priya was fully exploited in rendering the Pattnam Subramania Iyer song. Punnagavarali of Navavarnam was first attempted in public singing matching to DKJ perfection and it was rendered to its full imagination of Muthusamy Dikshithar. Generally Kalyani/Thodi and Anandhabairavi is attempted for Navavarnam singing. The power of Kambhoji was at its peak on its raga exploration and Swaram singing. The RE and NE usage in swara usage was ringing continuously even after leaving the auditorium. The day ended with soothing MAANGI of varugalamoo for Aarudhra day celeberation. Great Masters are not born every now and then and I could see a cloud burst in the next 20 years in carnatic music.
I cried for varugalaamo, i cried like a little baby. i was able to catch sanjay and ashok ramani as well but seriously, no impact. i mean, they were good but sriram was something else!
