Yeah, that squigly thing adds an imperceptible "y" in the pronunciation like - malvinyas

The old name is Nalini. Ganga, after it descended from the heavens is supposed to have split into 7 rivers - three going west, and three going south. The seventh river went south/southeast following Bhagiratha. The east going rivers were - Hladini, Pavani, & Nalini (which later came to be called as Brahmaputra). The west going rivers were Suchakshu, Seeta, and Sindhu. The river that followed Bhagiratha was Ganga which acquired the names Bhagirathi, Mandakini, Jahnavi, etc.

It was just Egypt and Syria to start with. Then Syria split off. But Egypt kept the name for several more years before it became Egypt again.

One of the many names for Manmatha is:
Sree-ramaa-kumaara ------- Auspicious goddess Lakshmi's son
When you cutoff his head what’s left of him is:
Ramaa- kumaara --------------- Goddess Lakshmi’s son (still it’s Manmatha)
When you cutoff his head again what’s left of him is:
Maa-kumaara ------------------ Still goddess Lakshmi’s son Manmatha. “Maa” is goddess Lakshmi; for example Maa-dhava is Vishnu (Lakshmi’s husband)
When you cutoff his head again what’s left of him is:
Kumaara ------------------------- Manmatha again (Kumaara is another name for Manmatha)
When his head is cutoff again what’s left is:
Maara ---------------------------- Manmatha again (Maara is another name for Manmatha)
The point is – one cannot kill physical desires however much you try.
