AKK was the founder of the kirana gharana out of which came such giants as sawai gandharva, bhimsen joshi, gangubai hangal and basavaraj rajguru. in the 30s he spent some time in southern india and learnt to sing a few thyagaraja krithis from veena dhannamal. IMO these semi-baked rashmunish experiments didn't always come off very well.
