Just like cigarettes..he could have taxed at higher obscene rates for larger quantities...

Agree.... also make income taxes, road taxes, plane tickets, etc..etc.. everything based on an individual's weight. After all, the more someone weighs more resources are used.

Should allow for age-height appropriate weight! Actually, it would be best to have rfid embedded in each individual with total metering of resource consumption - road miles used, oxygen breathed, water consumed and dissent expressed. Beds should be designed for fetal position sleeping, remote electric convulsive therapy administered for 'bad' thoughts.

Wait...we were only talking about behavior that is both self-destructive and has a cost to society and provides profits to unscrupulous 'sugary' daddies. There is hard science backing it...sugary drinks in large quantities = obesity = pretty bad healthcare costs for everyone
And it is easy to control it - Bloomie for Presidente.
