According to reports by several newspapers, Alameda County, in the San Francisco Bay Area, is paying its County Administrator Susan Muranishi, north of $400,000—for life. This includes a generous base salary of $301,000, plus taxpayer-funded deferred pension plans paid for by the county.

Right now, the best job one can have is a govt job - federal, county, state. Most have the old-fashioned pension plan.

I was talking to a school janitor the other day. He was contemplating retiring saying he would get $3000 a month and wants to spend more time with his family, and at 62 he could collect more on SS totalling around 5K.

Not bad at all....and it is no wonder the school admins, county workers live happier days after retirement.
