"But if, in the end, the film can’t quite sustain its epic vision, it does, along the way, achieve the density and momentum of a good novel."

The Place beyond the Pines is a well-narrated story with a neat little package of circular tying up of the loose ends. I enjoyed the movie in solitude - really, I was the only one in the whole theater (!) and the experience felt a bit like having read a good book.

Read up the Times review - http://movies.nytimes.com/2013/03/29/movies/the-place-beyond-the-pines-directed-by-derek-cianfrance.html?_r=0

and wait for the DVD projection on a 110" screen.
