TMS was the king and had his own stamp. more skilled than PBS or Sirkhazhi in changing the voice to suit diff actors - much like Kishore. But, PBS, Mukesh, Rafi were unidimentional in their voice but unique as others cannot duplicate their voice even if they tried.

In any case, it is sad that one by one all these greats are fast disappearing. Although these were not very active filmywise, their mere presence served to remind us of the golden era. Now, we have very few female singers to remind us of the 50s to 80s.

sirkAzhi's classical training blew the pants off of any of these guys. and he was capable of giving full length CM concerts and he did. he had a parallel career as a carnatic musician. none of these other guys did that.

TMS was a singular exception to create that magic..

SPB is a wonderful singer and if you carefully listen, his total inspiration is Rafi, from day 1.

Rafi has been a favorite since I was a kid. Am reminded of countless nights listening to all three late into the night in grad school and afterward for a few years.
