Critics of the Indian Mars mission wondered whether the country can afford huge costs for this space voyage. The Mars satellite, which would be launched on board Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-XL), will carry compact science experiments, totalling a mass of 15 kg. There will be five instruments to study Martian surface, atmosphere and mineralogy.

Rs. 450 Crore is peanuts compared to the loot by Raja,Kanimozhi etc from the 2G spectrum contract. Plus the thievery and total waste of tax payer's money spent on Commonwealth games.

The idiotic critics really do not understand the boost in self confidence in the Indian psyche the Mars program would bring. And it will inspire many kids to study science.

The main reason is there may not be much money to be made by the politicians. Also, this small amount is not worth their time.

If something makes sense, then Indians are naturally against it.

P.S. The corruption level is getting into a much higher level - to the point of not hesitating to kill children to make some fast bucks.

Ahhhh....the Gandhian India and the people who are peaceful ahimsavadis.
