The DM and SSP said that five policemen from Police Lines were to give the salute to the martyrs at Shaheed Smarak at Companybag. Some of the rifles could not fire shots at the last moment. The policemen had put the cartridges on the ground prior to the firing and when they loaded them in rifles some of the rifles did not work. Those present on the occasion claimed that ammunition from rifles of other policemen, who had also gone there for security purposes, were used for firing later on. Two shots were made towards the sky but only after the embarrassment to the administration.

Even high school NCC cadets are taught the importance of cleaning rifles. We do know how to "respect" and remember our great martyrs.
