it's clear:

a) he speaks a very brahmanical tamil. wonder if he is even aware of it.
b) often struggles for words. it's clear he doesn't use the language much.

Video is one hour long. Nobody is going to watch it all. I watched 54 secs. The interviewer speaks Tamil with few foreign words.

So what if the man speaks brahminical Tamil?

Is it OK if some one speaks Nadar Tamil?

I do not speak "brahminical Tamil". However, I think TN brahmins have every right to speak Tamil they want.

Your making fun of Swamy's 'Brahmnical Tamil' is very similar to the NIs making fun of SIs speaking Hindi.

i wasn't making fun of him, just stating a fact. in my day if one spoke like this at a public forum, one invited immediate scorn and ridicule. perhaps this conditioning is what makes me perceive his tamil as unsophisticated and not very pleasing to the ear.

every community has had it's own share of butchering thamizh; curiously this dialect has been the most popular, at least last two decades, particularly in thamizh media, embraced by all and no longer exclusive.

he was brought up in Bombay Matunga or Dadar.... I heard him talk to a small group of factory workers (and I was one in the group). His tamil was not even goodly. With little exposure of Tamil outside his house in Bombay, it was a typical NI speaking Tamil in Brahminical accent. His tamil might have improved but to get other accents one has to live within those communities at a young age.

Half the guys and girls in Mylapore, Mandaveli, Adayar, and T Nagar speak Tambrahmi Tamil. So What...If a Goundar and a Chettiar and a Pillai can fearlessly converse int heir accent why not the Brahmins?

Yesterday you were a factory worker. Now you are a multi-millionaire. I thought it happens only in Indian movies.
