If Advani did that, it only means that he is a pseudo-traditionalist. In Hindu tradition, when someone touches an elderly person's feet, the old fart is supposed to bless the young one. If he doesn't, he gets cursed by sage Parasara.

I carefully looked at the video. It looks like Modi was slow in accepting the flowers from Advani and kind of timed the "feet-touching" act a little awkwardly. May be Advani was quietly reciting some verses at that time (which is also common for the elderly when others touch their feet).

Both the journalist and you are like the super secular scholars in Dandaka forest waiting for some daadiwala to perform a fire ritual.

If the old man does not want the younger man to touch his feet, but the younger man insists on the feet touching, is the old man obliged to give his blessings to the younger man?

Btw, Modi used to also touch the feet of Keshubhai Patel even as he was working towards destroying Keshubhai politically.

Yes!

Modi touching Keshubhai's feet is fine. (Arjuna shot at Bhishma in the war but asked for his blessing before that.)
The voters gave a clearer message to Keshubhai.

Arjuna was part of Bhisma's extended family and also we cannot expect politicians of today to live upto the ideals of people like Bhisma. For instance Narendra Modi is believed to have a wife but he fails to acknowledge her existence today. Modi is known to be close to Anandiben Patel who is a cabinet minister in the Gujarat govt and who abandoned her husband after she became a minister. Anandi's husband repeatedly appealed to Modi for help to no avail.

Another criticism of Modi is that he systematically finished off the political careeres of all those who had built up the Gujarat BJP.

Keshubhai never lost elections. BJP was having a comfortable majority in Guj assembly when he was deposed and replaced by Modi.

Advani seems to be turning away from Modi as if to spurn Modi.

It was not proper on the part of Modi to bow to another politician / political  colleague (Advani or someone else) in an official setting. A mere hand shake or 'namaste' would have been enough.

Putting an end to the so-called war between him and BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi, the senior leader on Wednesday, blessed Modi after he dived at his feet twice at 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh', which is said to be the largest political rally

LOL. Not Arun Jaitley. Looks like sikularists were fixated on Modi. In any case, Rajnath seems to be happy!

True, especially if BJP wants super secular votes in 2014. If he said, Assalaam ailekumm...... that would have been even better!
