yes it doesn't matter at all that she lived in the era of civil war and emancipation and that the democrats of the era were raging racists. it doesn't matter at all that the entire political landscape has undergone a 180 degree shift from the antebellum era through the civil war era and emancipation to modern times. all that is just a footnote in history. and extending that logic, it doesn't make any sense to us at all that the african american community vote unfailingly for the democrats enmasse.

Democrats of the South were racists. In fact, Republicans were the better guys. Nixon was on friendly terms with Martin Luther King and unfortunately, he made a mistake that Robert & John Kennedy cashed in politically. George Wallace was a model for Democrats those days. However, the Kennedys shrewdly moved the democratic party in a different direction. Meatheads in the Republican party don't realize that they can educate the common man on the real history. Democrats in the US in some ways are like CONmen in India.
