Reminds of Rana Pratap's statue inaguration in Udaipur.

They first thought the President of India (S. Radhakrishnan at the time) should do it. Everybody in Rajasthan was opposed to the idea of a SI Brahmin guy inagurating Rana Pratap's statue.

Then somebody floated the idea of Zakir Hussain (the VP). No way Jose! A mussalman being the chief guest at a Rana Pratap unveiling!

Okay, may be Indira Gandhi, the PM of India. Forget it! A widow for the sacred inaguration function! that too someone who intentionally adulterated her caste.

How about the neighboring Jaipur Maharajah? Nope, you can't invite someone whose ancestors had marital alliances with muslims. He is a notch lower in Rajput status.

Finally they settled on the Bhil chief (forest tribe that helped the Rana) to unveil the statue. Everyone wondered how come they couldn't come up with that idea in the first place.

Doesn't the story remind you of Tenali Ramakrishna's golden seeds (only those who never farted in their lives are allowed to sow them)?

LOL. In Puri, they refused Indira's entry into the temple!

Jagan is a careful guy. He has been putting the dot on his head (like Munnabhai Dutt before the court gave the judgement).

May be they should change the procedure - gather together convicted politicians like Laloo & DKheads, and shame them in front of the temple while Kalam, who understands Hinduism better than most politicians, carries the silk "dhovati and uttareeyam" to the temple.

Oh...dotting his forehead proves that Rev Jagan is a secularist. But, no one dare bring it up in print or in words and they will be tagged Chaddi and EC will come out swinging.

It is people Rev Jagan and Maulana Rashmunullah and Maulana Gaywala Merlot who are #1 enemies of hinduism. They will recite and qoute Bhagavad Gita and recite koran and bible standing on the ashes of hindus.

I hate to break it to you but kiran reddy's wife is also some kind of Christian. Perhaps Cd can clarify that.
The bottom line is there is a tradition of non Hindu chief executives of state carrying dhovati to tirumala. It is just a ritual. One can only hope the guy does not make disparaging remarks afterwards. Jagan is pretty clear about his religious views but he also values his opportunity to become cm and setup his own hundi to compete with tirumalesa.
