Fourteen parties close ranks against 'communalism' Empty Fourteen parties close ranks against 'communalism'

NEW DELHI: Fourteen non-Congress and non-BJP parties on Wednesday sought to present themselves as the bulwark against "communalism" ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections although they said the mobilization is not intended to be a "Third Front".

The meeting was attended by Sharad Pawar's NCP, which with nine MPs is the largest Congress partner in Parliament, along with Left parties and regional outfits like SP, BJD, AIADMK and JD(U). Others included Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), RSP, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, People's Party of Punjab (PPP) and Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh.

The congregation is positioning itself as a claimant to political space that regional leaders feel is being vacated by a reduced Congress-led UPA and is clearly a bid to emerge as a decisive factor in the next elections. Calculating that BJP is not poised to fill the vacuum, and eyeing political gains at the expense of a weakened Congress, the parties that gathered at the Talkatora Stadium here presented a strong showing in the cause against communalism.

The dynamics at work were evident as Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was a main constituent despite the Uttar Pradesh government being accused of ineptitude and deliberate politics in dealing with the Muzaffarnagar riots. .................

>>>  The best and surest way to put an end to communalism in the country is through the implementation of UCC or the Uniform Civil Code (one law for everyone, irrespective of religion, race, gender and caste). Anyone opposing the UCC in the country basically adds to the communalism, even if unintentionally.

>>> This reminds me of something happened long time ago. A man who belonged to Naidu caste was complaining to me about how Brahmins are discriminating non-brahmins when it comes to religious matters. He was upset that the brahmin crowd did not invite him to a pooja to worship the wooden chappals worn by Kanchi Sankracharya who passed away some time back. He was saying that the brahmins think of themselves as someone special.

I asked him if the non-brahmins like him felt discriminated then "why don't you guys start your own religion?" He started laughing. "Do you think starting a religion is like starting a political party in India? Every fellow starts a party there!"

On a related note, why did all Dalits not convert to Budhism or some other religion preaching equality when they clearly had the option of leaving Hinduism ? Could it be that they thought if they are pious in this life they will be reborn as upper castes in their next lives after rebirth?

BJP should simply go alone...and REFUSE any alliance - even if offered - except Shiv Sena and Akali Dal.

All these other parties prefer well established guaranteed corrupt Congress over the vague, undefinable, imaginary COMMUNALism of BJP. They all will side with Congress after the elections to jointly loot the country - or what is left of it.

BJP should openly announce that it will go it alone and any alliance from like-minded parties will be considered only after the elections , AND put a stop to all these drama. Pull the rug from under all these corrupt clowns.

Having an alliance with Shiv Sena is a double edged sword for BJP. If Shiv Sena and MNS say and do derogatory things to UPites and Biharis during the electoral campaign ( 'get out of Maharashtra') then it will adversely affect the BJP in UP and Bihar. Even otherwise UPites and Biharis will probably experience revulsion for BJP for allying with Shiv Sena since the Sena has been involved in xenophobic activities directed against UPites and Biharis.

All these parties and alliances seeking an end to communalism will immediately stop shooting their mouth the moment someone asks them to support the implementation of UCC (Uniform Civil Code, one law for everyone), which is the best solution against communalism.

Unfortunately, the most prominent "anti-communal" politician couldn't attend this "enlightened" meeting of the extremely brilliant sikularists. Laloo is sitting in jail.

The more these crooks make noises, the more they will be exposed.

It is too bad that Patel isn't around to kick their butts.

Subrahmaniam's plea in SC is heard - the court is providing some security to the likes of Khimka and Durga who have been harassed by some sikular bastards attending the "empty-communal" meeting.

If alliance is a criteria, then none of the Parties which even remotely represent Hindus should ally with Congress which allies with rabidly communal, Political Islamic Muslim League, Badruddin Ajmal in Assam and MIM in Hyderabad.

All these parties are the B  team of Congress. Given a chance they would like to ally with Congress, with some of them directly supporting the disastrous central government of Congress based UPA-II. With people's anger against Congress, they want to project themselves as alternatives essentially dividing anti-Congress votes and thus effectively helping Congress in next elections. Leftists wants to get the clout,  and then negotiate for a position as in UPA-1. Mulayam as known previouslly, and a known flip flopper could play along and ditch the whole setup and make his own secret deal with Congress.
