Google+ vs Facebook
I think Google+ is going to kill facebook. The biggest reason is the concept of CIRCLES in Google+.
In facebook, when you share something, by default, you are sharing it will all your friends. You can put some restrictions around it, but it is painful to setup and manage. With google+, circles are easy to setup and manage. Basically, you click on a circle and give it a name - say "WORKPLACE". Then you drag and drop all your workplace contacts into the circle. Now, when you post a status update, google+ prompts you what circles you want this status update to post to. You select "WORKPLACE" and not "FAMILY". So basically, you can restrict your conversations.
I think google+ is awesome.

Re: Google+ vs Facebook
Facebook seems to be trying to replicate that... I logged in for the first time in months, and saw this thing on teh right that said, "talk to the friends you interact with most" or something like that. Sounded a little like doing a more restricted conversation. Don't know if that will take off. I didn't bother to click, because I don't like Facebook.

I noticed that too...and I clicked it but didn't bother to see what that did. The restrictive conversation in Google+ seems more cooler/awesomer.

The other thing I like about Google+ is Sparks. You can follow issues based on themes/interests as opposed to individuals which is the twitter model.

I need an invite... how do we make it happen? I will make an offer that you can't refuse.

Kapasi,
don't lose heart. It is only for few days. Google needs as many users as it can to match or beat Facebook. So they will open this soon. But by that time video group chat may become just another feature.
