Aussies are the windies of the West.

the stadium was packed to the gills. what a contrast from test matches in india. even tendulkar's well publicized retirement couldn't put enough bums on seats. that's what happens when you organize meaningless test series.

Overdose of cricket has been India's problem. I doubt handful of spectators show up for Ranji matches these days; they used to draw good crowds back in the day and used to be meaningful. Most of the selection these days appears to be based on player's performance in the IPL.

this series just came alive. england's total capitulation in the afternoon session was a sight to behold.

i watch this at a website where the majority are predictably english or aussie fans. there is a nice chat feature on the board. the indian fans who stop by have no interest in watching the ashes and go on and on tangentially about tendulkar and his exploits totally oblivious to the fact that there is an ashes test match on. whenever they hear the word sachin, those watching and commenting on the match just groan.

Ashes to ashes, England to dust! Totally rolled over on day 2. Can they bounce back? England has to come up with a big score in the second innings even if they end up losing. Their batting looks weak with heavy dependance on Cook and Trott.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013-14/content/story/691345.html

As Australia's bowlers gorged themselves on England, the stands encircling the Gabba were in tumult. Each wicket drew a bloodcurdling roar, every near miss an equally visceral "ooooh". In a session that accounted for six England batsmen, such sounds were legion.

Whether it was Australians whooping in delight or Englishmen chilled to their bones, not a soul could be unmoved by this episode, the kind of Test match passage so exhilarating for the fact a five-day contest's course was being decided in a matter of minute
this is what test cricket should be. once, just once in my lifetime i want to experience the joy of watching an ashes test match in australia. i think test cricket for most indians is a dead game. it doesn't help that the BCCI never respects agreed upon schedules and organizes things at their whim and ODIs and T20 series upon series just to fill their coffers.

Almost 400 run lead and no follow on? The Kolkata test was nearly 13 years ago but looks like Laxman and Dravid scarred the Aussies forever.

My hopes are high now; When I-am-good-at-spraying-around Johnson can turn things around why not Ishant? he might as well come around soon.

5th Test: Australia 94/4 (25.4 ov)

Can the English take advantage of this?
