Ramanathan was born in Madurai, India. At the age of 11, he moved with his family to Bangalore. Unfortunately, the classes at the school he attended were taught in English, and not his native Tamil. He admits that he "lost the habit of listening to my teachers and had to figure out things on my own".[3]

Sounds like a very accomplished guy. Great to know he is from my hometown.

Sounds like a very accomplished guy. Great to know he is from my hometown.
If he had been from MIT, Stanford, Cornell or Yale the Indian media would have noticed him long back. Unfortunately, the Indian media and the public dont know or think much about schools such as UCSD, U Washington, GT, Austin, U Michigan, Duke, U Va, etc...
