...It looks like Indians will be beaten by every country in the world - including Afghanistan. They should rename IPL as World Cricket Series and claim to the world champion no matter which (Gulli Danda) team wins..

Yuvraj and Sehwag commanding 2 cr ??? Why would anyone focus on improving their technique and play serious cricket ?

Two crores won't buy you much these days, they've got families to feed too.

That is not the point... These are now almost deadbeats and discards from nearly all 3 forms. Yivraj Singan is a probably in the 30s for the T-20, but he will be dumped.

2 crores is close to $300K - certainly not a pittance.

Yuvraj is still a marketable name in 20-20. He played a blinder against the Aussies in the 20-20 game recently and is still capable of big scores in this format. Sehwag is past his sell by date IMO. I hope the BCCI arranges a farewell game for him.

Sehwag's problem is his work ethic. Ashish Nehra is still around! and commanding 2 crores while Zaheer dropped to 1.5 crores., amazing given Nehra's fielding skills.

Yuvraj hits the jackpot on day of smart spending

"Yuvraj and Karthik were part of the 16-player marquee list that kicked off the auction and were fiercely contested by three franchises. Royal Challengers Bangalore made a successful bid for Yuvraj at Rs 14 crores ($2.33 million), while Delhi Daredevils bought Karthik for Rs 12.5 crores ($2.08 million)."

Yup - Yuvraj is still marketable. The most marketable in fact.

I noticed that those who could do double duty - bowling/batting; batting/keeping; etc..- commanded a lot more. Sehwag barely made it.Pujara go only $300K but Dinesh around $2 mils and that traveling cricketer Brad Hodge gets 205+. Irfan and Yusuf got big money too.
