In my home town of Uttar Pradesh, there is a convent school for girls where for more than a hundred years the uniform included wearing skirts. The saffron brigade used persistent threats on the school authorities and now the uniform is the traditional salwaar kameez. Covered from head to foot, this school dress is just a step away from the veil.

That is like saying that believing in one God (monotheism) is just a step away from believing in no God (atheism).

No, it is like saying deism is closer to monotheism than polytheism.
