doesnt this guy come across as a bushleague player completely out of his depth, making bombastic and at times emotional statements without backing them up? I am surprised, thought previous presidential candidate material would be much better. obambi's hiring process is ever so rigorous, as witnessed by his recent ambassadorial appointments.

if bush jr's admin is largely characterized as idiotically reckless & overly grandiose, obambi's admin is indecisive, clueless, clunky and bumbling...in that way kerry's a perfect representation of the current administration. america's looking increasingly like they dont know how to play in this new world anymore. hate to agree with kebab loving moral equivalence peddling comrade but it seems that we're in for a tough time globally.

Kerry and Obama are doing the song and dance to fend off republican criticism.
West just won a major victory by snatching ukraine from russian sphere of influence by instigating the movement in the run up to olmpics that tied Putin's hand. The schedule was so perfect that they closed the deal just in time for the olympic closing ceremony.
It is not all that difficult to predict russian response in crimea, it is russian majority region, black sea control, and a reply to please his russin audience.
Yes. West will impose sanctions (obama would have liked to do that for a long time since snowden) and Russia may lose their WTO bid etc.
The final victory will be in five years when Ukraine truns its economy around and even russins in ukraine wants to remain with west. Putin cannot win with out democratizing Russia and he is not philosophically inclined to do so.

if you think obambi and bumbling secy of state engineered the events in ukraine to force russia's hand in some divinely conceived game of chess, then I'd like to sell you some prime realestate for dirt cheap. they cant get a website launch right, one that's supposed to be the crowning achievements of the admin and you're gonna believe what you wrote? if so, you see something that evaded the rest of the world

I do not know the inside story but there are many who saw the connection between olympics and ukraine. It was a common refrain in my office comments. It may be usa advisors, it may be angela merkel or it may be some smart kid in ukraine (there are no smart politicians in ukraine).
Putin actions in crimea while not legal or acceptable, they are entirely predictable.
If putin was smart, he should have waited and asked for a referendum in each province. A positive vote would give him something to fall back. But that is not putin dna.
Russia will slip away from putin by its own internal contradictions. Nationalist fervor may give him few extra years but slower growth will bring him down. West has to be smart in putting pressure on putin without going back to coldwar mentality. It may sound good in Palin's backyard or rogers TV appearences but Russia is not grenada or Iraq.
