poor guys are forced to fork over about 18% of their income to uncle sam. this inequity sucks!!

I object to the use of the highly offensive term "rich." It smacks of socialist class warfare. The new non-offensive, politically correct term to use for those hardworking Americans is "job creators." As in: "the 400 job-creatorest Americans pay an 18% tax rate."
