modi cabinet - not that interesting

After reading names and distribution of the cabinet, I found it to be a very bjp political cabinet.
A lot of overweight for upcoming elections in up, Maharashtra and bihar.
no Christians, one Muslim, one Tamil.
Rajnath is not likely to set Ganges on fire with hid efforts at home.
sushma is probably way over her head at external affairs.
stun jaitley ok.
Rest of the gang not particularly awe inspiring but should be given a chance.
vajpayee cabinet was much better than modi.

Modi should have bought a couple of non politicos in. External affairs could use some gravitas.

Agreed that it is an ordinary cabinet. We also have this concept of Media analyzing how many come from each state and representation from states and also representation of each community in a state. If such an expectation is made as a requirement, then it will be difficult to find good candidates.

It's a "very bjp political cabinet" cuz BJP got a majority on their own.

The cabinet size has reduced and you are calling it overweight?

Whoever cares about the religion of the ministers belongs to the previous century.

Modi is not going for an "interesting" cabinet or a cabinet with "gravitas". He is trying to put together a cabinet that will get the work done with a high degree of accomplishment, just like he did in Gujarat for the past 12+ years.

I assume you mean "Vajpayee's cabinet." Still, it's not surprising that Vajpayee's cabinet, which was composed of a few dozen ministers, was better than Modi, a solitary person. Let's be fair to Modi.

I would have liked to see Arun Shourie in the cabinet. He brings intellect and gravitas.

Very surprising omission. Probably rubbed Saheb (or his men) the wrong way at some point in the internal struggle.

CD, every government serves the Ambanis and Adanis well. The 1 percenters are covered regardless of which party is in power.

Arun Shourie is not particularly business-unfriendly. He oversaw the hugely successful divestment of many PSUs in the NDA govt.

I heard that Shourie was requested to join the cabinet, and he refused himself due to the health issues in his family (both his wife and son). That is why the temporary arrangement of Jaitley handling both Defence and Finance. Jaitley himself has told the media that it is just a temporary arrangement for him to have both portfolios. You can take off your tin foil hats now, boys.

Asked if it will be incorrect to read the finance ministry being subject to their competing claims, Shourie was quoted in a press release to say "Ya absolutely...maybe Arun is a very big person, he moves around with those circles, I am just reading euro science."
