on most mornings, i eat oats in milk. i am kinda addicted to oatmeal.

Milk finished so could not eat cereal. Was planning to eat thin bagels, but FORGOT. Had thought would pick up something at the station, but the lure of running up to catch up the incoming train was too much.

Am STARVING now. Worse, coz I also took multivitamin type medicine. And I almost always throw up if I do that on an empty stomach.

Am chewing gum and dreaming of home fries. Am so gonna get them when I get to work.

I'm celebrating my homecoming with double breakfasts.

Yesterday, it started with idli+chutney and two hours later, poori bhaaji. Today, I first had two dosas and now, my favorite - a plate of misal.

if you ever make a trip to Pune, try Bedekar misal. given that this is owned by a punekar, expect a side dish of sarcasm, contempt and neglect when you are there. punekars don't mind that because of the quality of the misal.

if you want to eat MH food -

Mathura on Jangli Maharaj (veg) - this is my fav veg restaurant. try kothimbir wadi here. i recommend this restaurant for trying out MH food. can't go wrong here.
Shreyas on Apte road (veg thali. try modaks.)
Badshahi on Tilak road (veg)
shabri on FC road (MH+ GJ)
Durvankur on Tilak road (veg)

in Badshahi and Durvankur, you may not find the best of the crowds, and these joints are old. however, the food is good. try sitaphal rabdi at Mathura/Durvankur.

for non-veg, MH food, you can try Tiranga (has five joints in pune) and the food is good. for fishes, you can try Nisarga near Nal Stop. There are Kokan Express and Kokan Darbar in the interiors of Kothrud that serve good seafood but these places are small.

visit a chitale sweet shop and you may try bakar wadi, sakhar pedha (sugar pedha), chirote, guL-poLi and several other sweets. if you are into ice creams, try mastani in pune. i don't find it special, but there are people who say they have not tried anything like that. i don't get the hype. for mastani, sujata mastani is a famous shop.

edit - most of these places are frequented by commoners. for more upscale MH food restaurant, Taj Blue Diamond is the only option.

i had the same experience two weeks ago. it was my 2.30 pm and i clicked on SUCH and scrolled down to see if any of the locals, perchance, were signed into chat and i saw tracy trivedi! surreal!

technically, it was iPhone. And I was browsing while having my morning tea. My morning tea is probably my longest meal if the day. Since I was late today (7:30 am), I decided to drop the kids today... took half of the bowl in the car, which daughter held until her bus stop... and then when I put it down, the milk spilled. Argh. And NOTHING in the car to clean it... It's so gonna stink now. Got to get it cleaned this weekend.

4:30 AM???? that's just inhuman. that's when the most hit the sweet spot of their sleep. there are not many worldly pleasures that i can trade for that sleep.
