synthesis: a carnatic raga ported seamlessly into hindustani music
charukeshi is a quintessentially carnatic raga which hindustani musicians in the mid 20th century borrowed and made their own. now here is an example of true synthesis where something has been successfully imported from a neighboring culture while at the same time brooking no compromises. this is NOT fusion! it is true cross pollination that preserves artistic integrity. there is no garishness here.
there is also a story here that will make the rashmuns of the world delirious! the artiste who is muslim prefers to call himself pandit habib khan.

wow! thanks max! caressing glenmorangie with this chArukesi, its heavens! - I am going to hunt out the Adamodi by TVS right away with the amazing niravals (thadhuvulalli thelusi vantha..), and the best part is the awesome MSG's violin from a very old recording.
aside - is it my imagination or the SUCH clock is off (AHEAD) by an hour
