U.S. equipment comes with lot of restrictions. Israel gave us when we needed in Kargil war.

For one, Israel shipped armaments when India was in severe short supply during the Kargil War and was caught with its pants down. Israelis with so little water has mastered the art of agriculture with very little water. India needs it with its serious future water shortage. And I can list military equipment that India can import from iSrael at a cheaper price.

And at least, israelis dont send terrorists into India to bomb everywhere and are not likely to invade India. That alone should be reason enough to cozy upto iSrael. All the support to the middle east and not once they supported India against Pakistan on any issue.

And these are the actual percentage of imports:

India - Russia (75%) USA (7%) Israel (6%)

So for India the arms imports from Israel and the US are actually pretty close in numbers.
