i wish she hadn't done the plastic surgery on her nose. she was just fine as she was.

Twenty-eight years later, Anil Kapoor remembers that he was treated like an invisible hero literally by the 'trimurti' of producer Boney Kapoor, director Shekhar Kapur and DOP Baba Azmi who were completely besotted with the film's heroine, Sridevi, who was the huge star then."I was an established actor but it was Mr India, Tezaab, Eeshwar, Ram Lakhan, Karma and Parinda which made me the numero uno star. During the 'Kaate Nahin Katate' song shoot, I was treated like a junior artiste rather than the film's leading man who had to beg, plead, threaten, sulk and fight for one close-up, which would be taken at 4 am. The trio was obsessed with her and she was a pro, filming the rain song when she was burning with fever," Anil reminisces a quarter of a century later.

Incidentally, it was recently revealed by Boney that Sridevi had very high fever during the shoot of the song, which was shot in rains for several days. And the legendary actress added, "I never enjoyed doing rain sequences in films. In fact, while listening to any script and story those days, I would always pray that there should be no rain sequence in the film, but Kate nahi kat te was special and remains one of my favourites till date."

I always thought she resembled a somewhat oversized bablimas, a taller version of the sufferable hema malini that North Indian uncles used to drool over. No acting talent either unless you call acting coy and batting her unnecessarily large and round eyes at male leads acting.

See this video from 1:40 to 3:00. I can't think of any other actress doing a better job than Sridevi in that scene:

about the most recent sample rashmun posted -- loud, ugly, sophomoric, and over the top as expected. there are very few indian actors whose on screen performances i have truly enjoyed. an example of two great actors at the peak of their careers -- naseeruddin shah and rekha in ijaazat. here is a sample:

this is an unfair comparison. The scene i gave involved comedy and comic timing. you should give scenes of naseer and rekha doing comedy to show that they are better actors than Sridevi.

Rekha was considered a dumb black south Indian sec siren. She graduated to a good dancing star and an above average actress. She is nowhere near jaya or meena kumari.
Sri Devi, despite the inability of nerds to see it, is a tall well proportioned good looking movie star. She is as talented, if not more, as rekha.

- rekha was a celebrated actress and way beyond nobody-jaya or who-the-fuck-remembers meena kumari;
- the problem with sridevi is that she looks like me - UGLY!
- your analysis of si/ni actresses in bollywood is in retrospect. bollywood goes only by LOOKS. whether you are si or ni or brahmin or sc/st is for the public to analyze (in retrospect).
- rekha's histrionic skills were way above those of sridevi. sridevi did not know how to act. period. sridevi needed roles tailor made for her -- rekha was immensely versatile.
- sridevi is good at only one thing - doing bn on your head.
