With heightened risks of terrorist attacks launched by radicalized Muslim youth, an overarching nationalist fervor that subdues religious identity is not a bad idea. If only the BJP was less election-oriented, its thrust on patriotism could have been an idea around which the whole of the nation could have coalesced. But no. That would be too much of a good thing for these jokers. A Jai Hind would be too secular. So it had to be Bharat Mata ki jai. By force. And another good idea goes down the communal drain.
