The author has a bit of an axe to grind. He is a pak-am and and has made pro pak noises before. Anything that hints at India's rise probably grates. That being said, America is not quite done yet, as many in the media make it out to be, but neither can it rest on its laurels and pretend others are not catching up. For starters, decline in manufacturing and students shying away from STEM studies does not bode well. Neither is the assumption that affluence and superpowerdom are a birthright that happen on their own. There are many comments that take the author to task on his denial which are spot on.
