belonging to the Gandhi family should not be a qualification to become CM of UP; but neither should it be a disqualification. Varun is more educated, more articulate, and more intelligent than most UP legislators (admittedly the standards for being better than most UP legislators are quite low). Varun had briefly toyed with the BJP ideology of anti-minority rhetoric some years ago but has now given up the communal nonsense completely. I am willing to give him another chance. I think he would make a good CM of UP. The other alternatives being considered as CM of UP are definitely worse choices with the possible exception of Rajnath Singh, the present Home Minister who will i think prefer continuing in his present job.
The fact that Varun does not kowtow to NaMo and the RSS enhances his stature in my eyes.
