BENGALURU: In a two-page letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention in the Cauvery river crisis+ , Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has painted a grim picture of the water crisis in the state.

Seeking a meeting between Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha, along with the PM to resolve the crisis, Siddaramaiah wrote: "...the daily release of 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water+ at the inter state border, Biligundulu, which, if continued, would completely deprive the drinking water not only to the residents of Bengaluru city but also to the farmers of the Cauvery basin."

Siddaramaiah has said in his letter that if the current unrest continues, then it will have a serious impact on the IT industry of the state, impacting on the economy of the country. ....................
