AN Australian tourist is lucky to be alive after a bungee cord broke resulting in her falling into the Zambezi River from a height of 20 metres on New Year’s Eve.

The tourist, Erin Langworth (22), was however able to swim to the Zimbabwean side of the river and was then rescued by the bridge crew and a local medical response team, according to Clement Mukwasi, group Public Relations manager for Shearwaters Adventure.

Shearwaters has been running bungee jumping in Victoria Falls for the past 17 years. Bungee jumping is a favourite sport for both local and foreign tourists.

Now who all wanted to fall on a roof top or car instead of falling into water?

Wow. Of course, when a bungee cord breaks, you won't reach terminal velocity before hitting ground / water. Still, pretty amazing that she survived.

i agree velocity is not high but I really do not see much point in prefering car top over water.

What has terminal velocity got to do with it ?

We were talking in chat about skydiving accidents. The choice was, if you have a skydiving accident and you could choose, would you crash into water, trees, rooftops, or cars.
