Yes, that is an unusual aside for most normal human beings. For Trump, though, it is just normal behavior. He is so full of himself that he cannot have a conversation about anything without making it about himself. Apparently he won't read intelligence briefings unless they mention him, so his staffers try to put references to him in there in order to entice him to read them!... in an unusual aside for such an event, portrayed himself as the victim of unscrupulous opponents.

yeah, like in temples, where all devotees render briefings to the Gods, and at the end ask for the divine intervention

with all this hoopla if the Orange comes out looking kinda ok with the independent investigation i.e. not as a criminal mastermind but more of a clueless buffoon, the letdown would be huge and blowback on dems in 2018.

There are other shoes to drop. Apparently Trump and Pence knew Flynn was a foreign agent when they hired him. And he stopped an attack on ISIS because Turkey didn't like strengthening the Kurds, while he was working for the Turks. This taken together with obstruction in the Flynn investigation looks awful for Trump. It severely damages the national security brand of the GOP.

Just this week, we have learned that:
As all of this anti-American activity comes out, Trumpsters are stuck in the past reliving their happy days after teh election and obsessed with Hillary Clinton, John Podesta and other has-beens who have no political future. The world around them, meanwhile, is changing. They have always struggled to keep pace with change, and that is why they were so upset and angry. In all of this, one thing is becoming very clear. Trumpsters care as little about America as Trump himself does.
- Trump disclosed to Russia highly classified intelligence that endangered an Israeli source. Trump acknowledged sharing this information.
- Trump asked Comey to drop the investigation into Flynn's acting as a foreign agent while working as NSA.
- Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan knew in June 2016 that Putin was paying Trump. They then asked people to keep that discussion secret.
- Trump and his transition team headed by Pence knew in early January that Flynn was a foreign agent. They still hired Flynn to be NSA. Pence lied in March about just then learning about Flynn's status as a paid foreign agent.
- The Deputy Attorney General found enough substance to the Trump-Russia allegations to appoint a special counsel.
- Flynn, while being paid by Turkey, nixed a plan to attack the ISIS capital, because Turkey didn't like the idea of knocking out ISIS and thereby strengthening the Kurds who they are wary of
