..if he wins the nomination. Looks like he will win SC and perhaps the nomination.

The country is not ready for a Mormon yet. Between a Mormon and a Catholic the republicans, evilangelicals and even the country will pick a catholic.

In any case romney's rich mormanism and Newt's hypocritical southern BS are no match to the suave Obama.

Obama wins 2012.

===> Don't be so sure of that.

George Bush Sr. had 92% approval rating once.

You know what happened to him in 1992.

It was CLINTON who was opposing and Ross Perot who was sucking the wind out of Bush - remember?

In contrast, the OPPOSITION this time is full of controversies - not to mention idiots.

If Gingrich wins today, this is the beginning of a long race. Unlike 2008 when winning a state got you all its delegates, this time delegates will be awarded on a proportional basis. This means that Gingrich can stay in the race until the very end, take some states and lose some, and go into the convention within striking distance of the delegate count Romney has. Ron Paul already shows signs of wanting to go to the convention with a small number of delegates that he will pick up in all 50 states and then play kingmaker. All that Paul and Gingrich need to do is convince their donors that they can hang on until the convention. For Paul, that is a fait accompli, and for Gingrich, a win in SC (or even a narrow 1-2 point loss) will go a long way in accomplishing that. If Gingrich manages that today, we may be looking at a brokered convention.

If Gingrich the "Georgia stud laddu" wins today..he def. needs to send a huge gift to Mrs. Gingrich2..and the news media for doing something no one else could have done for him;)

I always remember your gem-quote "A known devil is better than an unknown devil"..may be it's one of those things- everyone knows/sees all the warts of Dr. Newt.

And Romney's major problem (could be a minor problem) is not religion- being a Mormon..it's the trust and likeability..people after the poor debate performances wonder why Romney someone who brags and brags about his success is only paying 15% taxes (which is a larger issue for most Americans) and refuses to release his tax returns. He may still win the nomination..but, no question it's interesting!

As for Pres. Obama..he can't anything for granted..funny how went to Harlem and was crooning and did a solo singing performance..his soul music credentials- which he did very well.

It's election year alright...got to sing, dance, do whatever it takes to- energize "your bases" Smile !

Maria,

Hi, again. A solid 5 point win for newt may rekindle a race that Romney won five times already. The strength of any one but romney candidate seems to be very strong. Romney's recent faltering in debates is adding to his misery.

The under current of romney's weakness has some strong links to Mormonism that he wears proudly on his sleeve. His so called out of touch label and recent 15% statement makes him little more weak.

For repubs, Romney is still the best choice and he still got majority of repub establishment. Newt has too many enemies and he will have a major problem drawing votes in NE and Midwest beyond core base.

For Nov election, Obama's no#1 opposition is a weak economy. The tenuous world economy with multiple trouble spots , such as Greece, China's slowdown, Italy, slowing BRIC nations, Russia and Iran, could throw one or more bombshells to spoil the mood of the nation. Repub mess and its congress has helped Obama in the two months but he has to navigate another 10 months.

My fingers are crossed.

romney has the machine; don't underestimate him. retail campaigning may work in south carolina. the next state up which is delegate rich, florida, is huge. money and a well oiled campaign machine will carry the day there. lots of TV spots, robot calling etc.
