WAPO editorial calls for violence
One can only hope he meant it metaphorically.
Segregationists have again assumed their pedestals in the Justice Department, the White House and many other American temples. Paper alone won’t drive them out. Start throwing rocks.

Re: WAPO editorial calls for violence
Do you know what the term editorial means? What you posted is an opinion article. WaPo publishes a broad range of opinions, both conservative and liberal.
Here is a link to the editorials WaPo has published. They are all from the Editorial Board of WaPo. You will not find this article there.

Re: WAPO editorial calls for violence
Nice catch Mr technical expert but bottomline is Wapo allowed such words to be published. Got anything to say on that?

Re: WAPO editorial calls for violence
I do have several things to say about this WaPo article. I will say all those things after you respond to this news from yesterday: In January, Fox News and Daily Caller posted a video of drivers running over liberal protesters, with an exhortation to the readers to "study the technique; it may prove useful in the next four years."
Let us see first what excuses you make for this.

Re: WAPO editorial calls for violence
Posting such a video and those words was highly irresponsible. It looks like fox news and daily caller used the strategy of commit blunder, cause damage and then express regret. Though they took out those videos, the damage had already been done.

Re: WAPO editorial calls for violence
Good. Now my thoughts on this WaPo article.
First, you posted the last three sentences of the article. And you hoped that he only meant them metaphorically. I have good news for you: he did! You would have known that beyond reasonable doubt if you had read the any of the preceding paragraphs. He uses the metaphor of rock-paper-scissors. He even defines what he means by the word rocks in quotes:
Resistance, be it forceful or clandestine, threatened or explicit, stands as our “rock.” Rocks can look like armed self-defense or nonviolent direct-action campaigns. They appear, too, as blunt, bald public speech about the hatred arrayed against the dispossessed. Our rock against racism has also included the sacrifice of people like Medgar Evers, a black World War II veteran and civil rights organizer, dying in Jackson, Miss., in 1963; or Viola Liuzzo, a white Northern Unitarian Universalist, dying for the same cause in Selma, Ala., two years later.
Second, I disagree with the author. His metaphor is misleading. Everything in the quote above is legal and very much a part of the liberal toolkit to combat hatred and bigotry, so these things do not constitute a "rock" in contrast to the "paper" of liberalism. There is no rock-paper-scissors game at play here. There is violence and non-violence; there is evil and good.
Third, WaPo has an extensive opinion page and it should continue to publish a wide range of opinions. It should not stoop to the level of Fox News and Daily Caller in inciting violence.
