Andhra MP talks of independent South India

“There is a feeling in the south that it is being neglected. Don’t force the five south Indian states to declare freedom as a separate country,” Muralimohan (Telugu Desam Party Member of Parliament)was seen saying in the video.

That is a drastic step. They should first form a Southern group to exert pressure on Delhi on fund allocation, etc. There has been a net movement of funds from SI to NI for a long time. If the group can achieve stopping this drainage, that will be a significant achievement. Right now, the NI crowd has enormous political power (they are the majority in parliament) to waste money on BIMARU states at cost to SI. If TN generates a lot of revenue, there should be incentives for doing so. Perhaps, a formula in this regard should be fought for.
NT Rama Rao fought for better management of the revenue in the past. Changes were made in response to that (if not for that, NI would be getting a lot more proportion of money than it is getting now). There is a need to further adjust that formula or replace it.

Finance Commission that makes formula for allocating central funds to states said that future allocations would be based on 2011 census.
This would further increase funds to Hindi states because their population increased substantially while southern population did not increase.
The formula should be based on how much each centre collects from each state.
