Re: Introducing Akbar to Tamil children
This is what is wrong with Tamil Nadu (people of Eelam are much better). In TN children are taught abouit foreign kings but they know not much about Tamil kings.
Teach them about
Cheran Senguttuvan who defeated 2 Aryan kings in a single day (oru pakal pozhuthu).
Pandian Nedunchezhian who defeated every Aryan army that stood in his way as his army marched north.
Imayavarampan Cheralathan whose army marched all the way to Himalayaa and erected his flag there,
Rajendra Chozhan who conquered not obly northern South asia but also Burma, Malaysia and parts of Indonesia,
Teach them about

What about Nawabs of Arcot? Were they not Tamil kings? By knowing more about Mughal kings Tamil children will learn more about the history of the Nawabs of Arcot since the first Nawab was a representative of the Mughals.
What is advantageous about learning about the Nawabs is that they are still around. While the people you name are long gone.

by that token lots of mathematicians and physicists alive today are far greater than einstein. what's the point of learning general theory of relativity when einstein is long gone? there are monuments and temples raja rajan built that tell us about the history of the tamil people, their lives, and their art. he was the patron of great poets who produced works of enduring value. the sculptures in the temples he built embody and tell us about the history of chathir also known today as bharathanattiyam. the aforementioned nawab, a factotum of the moghals made no such contributions and by your own admission lives off the fat of the land. why learn about an inconsequential vassal? the greatest contribution of the nawab to the world is a scion who played cricket well enough to captain the english cricket team.

the ancestors of the Nawabs of Arcot gave funding for the construction of the Parthasarathy temple and they also donated a vast tract of land for constructing the temple tank of the Kapaleeshwar temple. They also gave funding for various other temples.
i would want tamil kids to learn about raja raja chola and also about Akbar. Moreover, i would want hindi speaking kids to learn about raja raja chola, rajendra chola, krishnadeva raya, etc. at the end of the day, raja raja, akbar, krishnadeva raya, etc. should be considered indian kings; and not tamil kings or telugu kings or north indian or south indian kings.

the video could have been better but its not pathetically bad. the stories are very familiar to me--i had grown up learning about these akbar-birbal stories.
