to be honest, i'm starting to feel a bit of "giuliani 9/11" fatigue on this one. smart move?

Smart move, yes. He made a huge political gamble in ordering the attack, and it paid off. Contrary to what Romney claims, it was nowhere near obvious. The majority vote in Obama's circle of advisers was to wait for more intelligence rather than move in for the kill. Bob Gates and Joe Biden, his most senior advisers, told him not to proceed. But he went ahead. If the attack had gone wrong, today would have been the day the GOP would have gone to town reminding how Obama was a weak president who couldn't protect Americans from terrorists. They wouldn't have blamed the SEALs and made it a non-political issue.

But, certainly not as smart as THIS move.
