It is true. I have heard my grandfathers tell me stories about Madras - since I was the only guy who would sit and talk to them - and somehow, in my mind I always have the feeling that I have known madras since the late 19th century. Sometimes, when I pass on these stories to my younger cousins (he is 12yrs old), they think I am making it all up. Except, I am repeating the "oral stories" passed on from my oldies. Literally, I have visualized their stories in my mind, and it is now as though I saw the 1890 madras myself.

To this day, I cannot believe there was just a HUGE lake on one side of
the electric train track, and T Nager on the other side. I remember
vividly, a CLEAN couvum at Nungambakkam and not so bad couvum at Ethiraj
college.
