within the us. where do you guys go? orbitz? kayak? cheapo air[this site looks scary]? travelocity sucks. I am not sure of this name the price thingamajig from priceline. any other recos?

no. sometimes airline website has higher prices than partner sites kayak directs you to, esp for international travel.

try airfare.com for INT travel.

try southwest for domestic, if southwest services that sector.

I think most airlines now guarantee that the lowest fares are on their own websites. If you do buy from any third party partner, when you make any changes to your ticket you will have to pay change fees to both the airline and to the third party. I tend to make changes to my itineraries often enough, so I book direct with the airline. I find the fare that I want on kayak, and buy it from the airline, and I've never had to pay more on the airline site than what kayak showed me.

As uncool as it may seem..I still do it the old fashioned way when it comes to booking tickets to India via a travel agency..usually it's booking tickets only a few weeks or even days before traveling, and seem to get decent-comparable rates. No problems, so far!
