Question to Non-Bengalis or non-WB residents.
When you were in school/high school what you were taught about Chittaranjan Das. Just a note/few lines or in depth details about his life/participation in freedom struggle/etc?
In TN history books not much were written about this great man. May be bcz he was born in Current Bangladesh?

Not at all in the history books. We had a non-detailed text for one of the languages on Ravindranath Tagore, and he was mentioned in there, but the only thing I remember is the honorific Deshabandhu.

May be not enough pages to write after filling up with 'good sides' of Akbar/Aurangazeb/Nawabs/Nizams?

no idea about him. all i knew was that there is a bengali dominated area called chittaranjan park in delhi. i had thought he is probably a bengali litterateur.

The only time I read about him was in the Amar Chitra Katha volume on Subash Chandra Bose. CR Das was mentioned as the mayor of Calcutta and an early supporter / mentor for Bose.
