One of the great services PVN did was to keep this Sonia at a distance, not allowing her to come near the Party. He questioned the reasons why she was asked to join Congress party as one of the leaders. He openly said this lady would do more harm than good for the country. HE WAS A VISIONARY. What he said is happening now. I need not say anything about what is happening now. The readers know this clearly

Did PVN Rao really say that about Sonia?

I don't remember if he said that but he marginalized Sonia and made her a non-entity. Some time after the 1996 general elections congresswalas realized or felt that the party wouldn't get any votes without piggy backing on the Gandhi name. So they went and persuaded the "reluctant" Sonia to be the face of the party.

Pvn became pm with sonia's support. He was known to be a indira loyalist with no mass base. He appointed mms as a rajiv camper. However as he became successful as pm steering india out of economic meltdown, he recognized the power of pm 's office and his own popularity and decided to keep sonia out of main decision making. It also solidified sonia's fear of hindu leaders.

Arjun singh and other sonia loyalists were pushed aside.

Sonia was not ready to assume power in 1991 but learned the tricks od trade by 1996 to seek leadership.

Pv's economic success failed to impress the subsidy driven vote of the masses and he lost the election. It was only a question of time after that election sonia restored dynastic hegemony over congress.
