It's all about seeking unity with the female principle and participating in the endless circle of life. Of course, truly enlightened souls like you who have never mounted a woman are exempt from such worldly burden.

Yeah, I heard about Garba in Gujrat. Obvously, Holi is similar. But then, the youth in India don't need Garba or Holi. They just need to get into a crowded city bus.

True. But unlike back in your days, young women these days tend to be very discriminating. They don't take kindly to metaphorical expressions of Hindu philosophy by strangers who don't look like Brad Pitt, that too in a crowded bus. The outcomes can be very unhappy for aforementioned youth, including potential jail time (under the new law). OTOH, that might put the fear of God in them >> fewer atheists on the streets.

Here is how they are depicted... the "bad guys" try to disrobe a woman in public in order to shame her. The "good guys" treat their wife as their property and gamble her away just like they gamble away all their land and money. In the face of all that gentlemanly behavior, all that the all-powerful god can do is drape the unfortunate woman with clothes from the sky. Even god himself in those days did NOT think gambling away one's wife was a bad idea; he didn't stop the "good guys" from doing it. He in fact helped the "good guys" even after they had needlessly treated their wife as nothing more than property.

The idea that our ancestors were better-behaved and more refined than us is most often a fantasy.
