Re: Healthy Choices
Was it piping hot? Can totally see me eating it piping hot. Would have loved capturing steam coming off off it on the camera (in my current sinus situation, that's all I think).
BTW, is it me or is it semi-liquidy? I thought upma was soft solid.

Yes, it was steaming hot. It won't taste good if it's cold or warm. My iphone couldn't capture the steam . Bajra upma is a little porridgy (sic). It shouldn't be a soft solid like the rava upma.Vidya Bagchi wrote:Was it piping hot? Can totally see me eating it piping hot. It would've done good to your cold and sinuses. Get well soon!

'Maintaining' is a more face saving way to say . My body simply refuses to lose anymore wt after a certain point. Those 10 lbs lighter is all I am asking and damn it's so hard to lose those. Wonder how ppl are losing 30 lbs in less than two months and all. *so envious*seven wrote:year is about to end. how close are you to your target weight, kinnu?

Re: Healthy Choices
I had lost 10 lbs July - October. But stuff and Diwali happened, and came the big wide mithai/namkeen package from back home, courtesy XMil, and slowly I gained 4 lbs. but in last week again lost 3 lbs out of it. So currently, I am at X + 18 of my final target. Goal is to lose about 8 lbs by christmas. Let's see... I am usually against making goals lately, but this time it's sorta critical. People do look at my face and think i have lost weight, but I wonder if it's just some aging-related change.nenu wrote:'Maintaining' is a more face saving way to say . Losing that 10 lbs is big! You gain easily, you lose easily. As long as you are losing, it's encouraging. Keep going, Vids.Vidya Bagchi wrote:I had lost 10 lbs July - October. Re: Healthy Choices
Yesterday's lunch. Steamed brocolli, cauliflower and zuccini. I like the lightly steamed, but crunchy veggies than raw.
Chappatis: made with multigrain atta (sujata brand). Some flax seed powder is added to it. After I dry roasted them, I smeared them with a few drops of extra virgin olive oil for softness.
Today's breakfast. I mixed some plain yogurt to it.

What's the green sabzi in the lunch pic? All looks so good.
While I enjoy XH's food, one of the casualties of XH moving back is my regular daal-sabzi-roti routine is dwindling (Ya I know, bitches never be happy). Earlier part of the year, I had a good system going on. Buy 4-5 fresh veggies every week from a desi store near work. Then go home every evening and cook something light and quick within 30 minutes, and eat off the stove. Kids ate e'thing that was dished out from there, they don't love it much the next day. Also served as my lunch for next day. Need to pick up that routine again. Will do starting 2014. No lunch for me today as XH and son were in football frame of mind, and ordered pizza and cookies and soda. Will go get something from the sushi place nearby today.

Re: Healthy Choices
The green sabzo is capsicum/green pepper curry. So easy to make. method: Put the south indian seasonings. 1 tsp oil, red chillies, mustard, jeera, curry leaves. Then saute onions. (meanwhile roast some peanuts in the microwave) add tomatoes. soften. add green peppers, salt, turmeric, chilli powder. Cover and cook for some time. grind the roasted peanuts. add that powder to the curry when the green peppers are almost cooked (not too soft. i like them a li'l crunchier). add lil garam masala (opt)and chopped cilantro. I added less peanut powder this time to the dish in the pic. Dieting, no.
Today's lunch is Vadas with sambar. Kids are home, so got to make something that they like. I am going to eat my veggies and fruits before lunch so i don't eat too many of those vadas.
