Yes, all thanks to India's Freedom Fighters, who also laid the foundation of the Indian Republic.
Special thanks to Nehru, Gandhi and Ambedkar.
Congress then had a plethora of leaders and intellectuals, who had vision and knew what form India had to take. They quickly wrote the Constitution(1950), which almost reads like a sacred document, which to till date has been the rock behind India's Democracy and associated system.
With Land Reforms, the Congress did a favour to millions of India who were suffering under the brutality of the Feudals.
The poverty rate was 80%, with riots happening all over the country, linguistic squabbles threatening the very stability of the Nation.
To establish a system when so many things are going wrong is Super Human effort.
Without the Congress of the 1940s and 1950s India would be a fractious Banana Republic today.

Was Ambedkar a Congressman?

In reality, he was a bitter man. Apparently, his second wife who took care of him when he was old, was a great lady.

Awaiting the ire of sikular SuCh scholars.
