liberals are uncomfortable with figures of authority no matter which party they belong to.

I think getting locked into ideologies is a common trait on both ends of the spectrum. The polarization seems to be getting worse by the day, with the media getting in on the act fanning the flames. On this, I would blame the right-oriented outlets more.

But, the Tea Partyers are more like politicians locked into fanaticism.
They are forgetting that they are politicians foremost - which means they are expected to compromise. Even the very people that they claim to represent want cuts AND taxes on the wealthy.

I am going to call my amex and visa guys and tell them I won't be paying my outstanding bills, since I have decided to cut back on expenses. Call me a tea-party-er:)
Anyway, the article is about some among the liberals who are taking obama to task for making compromises and letting them down. As Zakaria says, the point is not to make the good the enemy of the best. Its a point lost on ideologues. My respect for obama has actually gone up after this debt ceiling crisis.
