Cakes in India are overly sweet. Just like ice cream in India.

They know (to some extent) how to make it look good.

diff experience here. at least the ones we regularly got home were not too sweet. I can't handle too sweet.
The icing would be all cream, so that's the scary part there. I have a scary story of that. We got the cake for my dad, and it smelled sorta funky. I ate a piece regardless, while e'one else left it after a bite or two. The food poisoning I got from that, scared me enough to not touch a cake (atleast the icing part) for the next 1 year that I lived in India. The fear took a long time to go away. Even now if I smell anything off in a cake, I can't eat it.
Side stories:
- XH (bf that time) was leaving in 2 weeks, and he got impatient that I am sick at home throwing up for 2 days when he wanted to hang out with me as much as possible. He would come home to sit by me while I sat there in my full avatar. He had that opportunity to leave me then considering how I looked; he should have.
- My sil took the cake back to the bakery and threw it (not literally) at the owner while verbally lashing out (literally) at him. He gave another fresh cake as a consolation, but I was not gonna touch it.
- My own b'day was 2 weeks later, and I did cut a cake, but barely ate the cake part, left the icing.

Re: pineapple cake
Isn't it the other way around? American cakes are waaay more sweeter than indian cakes, unless you order a whipped cream topping.seven wrote:Cakes in India are overly sweet. Just like ice cream in India.

Indian cakes are also more softer and fluffier than american. Very yummy too!
