Bengaluru: A low-intensity IED explosion injured two people on Church Street, a crowded commercial hub, in Bengaluru on Sunday night. One of them, a woman, has been critically injured.

The woman, identified as Bhavani (32) from Tamil Nadu, sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Mallya Hospital by her family members and passersby. The explosion occurred around 8.45 pm when Bhavani and other members of her family were walking towards Brigade Road. One of her relatives, who is yet to be identified, was also injured, but is out of danger, doctors at Mallya Hospital said.

The improvised explosive device (IED) had been placed between pots in front of Coconut Grove, a Kerala specialty restaurant.
