Effin Irene Update Thread
We're all good in PA but it looks like things are getting ugly in NJ. Just got a call from my tenant in NJ
Tenant: "This is a real emergency. Your sump pump is NOT working. There is TWO FEET of water in the basement!"
Me: "Do you have electricity?"
Tenant: "No, it went out last night"
FB status update from a friend who lives in the same area: We woke up to no power. Electric company says they may take 4-5 DAYS to restore power.
fuck.
anyone else experiencing some Irene pain?

Irene is just entering southern New england. TV reports say that it is losing steam and will also dump less than expected rain. Howling winds and blowing rain still makes it threatening.

Another friend's basement is flooded. He went down there to find out that the sump pump was UNPLUGGED. Turns out his dumb ass wife unplugged it to power the vacuum cleaner. When she was done vacuuming, she didn't bother to plug the sump pump back in. What a douchemati.

Re: Effin Irene Update Thread
takeaways from effin Irene:
1. Buy a 2000-2200w generator. Honda. Just buy the damn thing and keep it.
2. In my rental unit, install a sump pump that works even when the power goes out. Peace of mind for $500 and change.
3. Thank two friends who called and offered to lend their generators. Luckily I was able to find a handyman to take care of stuff for me, but it's always reassuring to know you have helpful friends.

Re: Effin Irene Update Thread
updates:
1. power is restored (F U PSEG for alarming us with 4-5 day restoration ETA)
2. Tenant reports that the sump pump is running and the basement is almost devoid of any water.
3. I am going to meet her tomorrow evening and I hope she's somewhat hot. She has a 14 yr old daughter but you know how these messican bishes plop out kids when they're themselves teenagers...
